got out early this weekend to look for some spring creatures
tiny Velvet Mites found in and under the damp logs (tiny but on the move (blurry))
spring rains form vernal pools on the forest floor, these temporary ponds become useful breeding grounds for a variety of amphibians like these Blue Spotted Salamanders that i found hiding under logs adjacent to the pools
i found 9 total Blue Spotted's for the morning.
i always make sure to replace the logs as carefully as possible and return everything as i found it.
from a little homework, i think these big grubs will become June Bugs when they transform
helped this toad buddy across the road
lots of Garter Snakes warming themselves in the morning sun
back home by the apartment, one of 5 little bunnies nibblin' on flowers
